It is with much pleasure we can announce that there will be a follow up Local Wild Food Challenge in North Canterbury in 2016. Pegasus Bay Restaurant and Winery will be hosting the event again after a very successful day in March this year. It was a magic day and for a first event and we had a fabulous turn out of locals with their prepared wild goodies to enter into the competition. A seriously high caliber of foodies were present and competition was fierce! … well pretty chilled out really and loads of fun was had. Its clear that Local and Wild is all apart of our lifestyles already. However the Challenge part is what brings us together as a community for a fun filled day this summer.
The competition is open to all! The kids competition will run from 2-5pm with judging at 530pm. Adult competition winners will be announced just after. There will be lots to see and do for non competitors on the day, including some live music to relax too with a glass of wine. The same concept as other LWFC events – at least one ingredient has to be wild, foraged, sourced by you put together into a dish of your choice put to a panel of judges with a story of your ‘mission’ and what you have created. too easy!!
The talented team of chefs led by Teresa Pert at Pegasus Bay Restaurant will be preparing another two course feast of delight to be enjoyed after the competition.
